| Introduction | Sometime in 1999 I stumbled upon "Merry Xmas From Eddie G #16" in the used Christmas bin at a record shop in Downtown Burbank, CA. I have since discovered that this collection was given to a couple of thousand people by a writer working in Hollywood. This CD was his first after making the collections on cassette tapes since the early '80's. The cover was cool, the track list unique and the price was right. (I think I paid 4 or 5 bucks for it.) I've always liked breaking out the Christmas music every year, so I think I was looking for something new. I was blown away by this Christmas collection, and using it as a jumping off point, started my own Christmas card CD the following year. The Burbank CD shop has since become a pizza place, and I'll be giving out Volume 24 of the Ramos Family Holiday Mix this year. It started out pretty basic and has since become more elaborate and definitely more fun. My girlfriend (now wife) back in 2000 helped me come up with a poem to include in the artwork which features the wife and I, our two kids and faithful dog. I have a blast putting these together every year and get even more delight when someone says, "Where do you find this stuff?". |
