Introduction	I was born deaf but was not diagnosed until the age of 3. Since then, I have been wearing hearing aids in both ears and learnt how to speak and lip reading. In 2006, my hearing on the right ear became worse when I came home after spending a year in Australia. A year on, I continued to struggle a bit and then I had learnt more about the cochlear implant. At the start of 2008, I made the decision to explore this opportunity and see whether I would be eligible. Happy reading!
