Introduction A recurring theme within my work is that of the ostentatious display which recedes into failure and emptiness. I make sculptural works that embody brash eccentricity. The fact that they can be easily packed up or wheeled away lends them an ephemeral quality. Most recently, I have been working with pre-manufactured, light, reflective materials: in particular, specular, wood-stained, glossy surfaces, such as PVC and Perspex. These shiny, polished façades refract the abstract forms that make up my sculptures, whilst the presence of these large, stocky, sturdy, wooden constructions are imposing. My work demonstrates an honesty of process in manufacture, drawing contrasts between the visibly rough and the smooth. I have begun to incorporate the use of feathers, bringing a grubby, primal, talismanic element to my pieces. I have exhibited my work nationally, including a solo show and a group residency.
