Introduction I'm a retired Navy electronics guy who did my entire military career on shore. After I retired I went to sea on surveillance ships as a civilian Electronics Technician for the next 7 years. My wife Jeannie and I finally ended up in Santa Maria California in 2002, where I work on Vandenberg Air Force Base for Lockheed Martin. We brought one of our lovely fur-babies with us when we moved from Hawaii, and have adopted the other two here from the local Humane Society. When I'm not working or hanging out with Jeannie and the 'kids', I like to ride bikes. A LOT. I also enjoy backpacking, hiking, and pretty much anything that gets me outside. And I also like taking pictures, some of which you'll see here from time to time.
Interests Cycling (both Mt and Road) and our 3 babies (4 legged kids) seem to take up most of my spare time. Also building things (wood, metal, whatever). I'm good with my hands and can create or fix most anything.
Favorite Movies Band of Brothers (entire series), Lord of the Rings (entire series), Star Wars (entire series), Monty Python & the Quest for the Holy Grail (she turned me into a NEWT!). Television shows I enjoy: Stargate Universe, Criminal Minds, The Event, Leverage, Sanctuary, and any replays of Mash, Star Trek, Star Trek Next Gen. And I grew up watching Gilligans Island, Scooby Doo, and The Banana Splits (anybody remember them? I happen to be a card-carrying member of the Banana Splits club from the late 1960's, and still have the 45rpm record with their theme song....the "Tra la la" song). Also I really enjoyed "the Golden Compass". Who doesn't want their very own "Armored Ice Bear" as a friend?
Favorite Music Typically Rock & roll, also alternative rock and 60's music. My XM Satellite radio flips around between the Pulse, the Blend, Mix, the various rock channels, the 60's channel and the comedy channels. Favorite Album is probably Pink Floyd, The Wall.
Favorite Books The Dune series by Frank Herbert, The Lensman series by E.E. Doc Smith, The Foundation series by Isaac Asimov. I also REALLY enjoyed the entire Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling is a GENIUS!) I also really enjoyed all of Tom Clancy's books (Hunt for Red October, Red Storm Rising, etc). And another awesome series I loved from long ago: the Ring-wielder series by Stephen R. Donaldson (the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant).
