| Introduction | My earliest memories of drawing were the days I spent with my dad in his laundry in NYC. He taught me as he ironed. When I saw Rembrandt’s paintings at the MMOA, I was mesmerized by their light. The paintings lingered in my mind. I aspired then to be a painter. I taught elementary school after college. It was during teaching that God taught me patience, to solve problems, to persevere, and to be teachable. At the Art Students League in NYC I studied three years with David Leffel. I learned to have a concept before I put brush to canvas and how to realize my concept through composition, edges, values, color, and exploiting the qualities of oil paint. My paintings have won various awards and are in numerous collections. They were also featured in Nina's Choice in Bergdorf Goodman. After caring for my elderly parents with my faithful siblings, rearing a beautiful daughter, and finishing a successful teaching career; I am again at my easel solving problems with patience, perseverance, being teachable, and keeping true to the concept of each painting. My goal is to create beautiful paintings with light that will linger in the viewer’s mind. |
