| Introduction | Jamal Lacy, age 31, is the creator of Operation Reach B.L.A.C.K., a website that strives to focus on issues of the Black Diaspora and African-American community. The word “B.L.A.C.K.” stands for Building Leadership, Awareness, and Cultural Knowledge and seeks to reclaim Black identity through re-education and self-affirmation. The website serves as an extension of its namesake, a community service initiative founded by Mr. Lacy as a student at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Operation Reach B.L.A.C.K. focuses on social, political, and economic awareness and empowerment. Mr. Lacy is also a front-page contributor for Jack & Jill Politics, an award winning African-American political blog, where he has written social and political commentary since 2008 under the pseudonym, “B-Serious,” a name that he also uses at Operation Reach B.L.A.C.K. Mr. Lacy received his Bachelors with honors in political science from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) in 2003. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School (Boston, MA) in 2007. |
