| Introduction | Born in 1952 in London. Been variously involved in the music business and then television (starting with the glorious Malcolm Gerrie) and movies; ran the London Screenwriters' Workshop in the early 1990s; subsequently approached by Hodder & Stoughton to pen Teach Yourself Screenwriting (1995 to present) - now an international best seller [even if I do say it myself]. Taught and lectured in the UK, Europe (esp. Spain) and USA (New York, Boston, north-eartern seaboard). Probably more respected (famous?) abroad than I am in the UK - oh well, that's how it goes... Thinking of leaving the UK to live in the USA and Caribbean from (?) 2009 / 2010? ...come and join me! |
| Favorite movies | A random selection: It's A Wonderful Life, Singin' In The Rain, Field Of Dreams, Spider-Man, If..., Women In Love, Kes, The Graduate, many Ealing comedies - I could rattle on for years. TV shows I've loved (but mostly short-lived): Man (from Canada, about 1989, only managed 8 episodes), Profit (with Adrian asdar, again only 8 episodes), Action (with Jay Mohr - at least this managed 13 epsiodes, even though only half of them were screened, and then most of them on the wrong order...Fools!). Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes, William Hartnell's Dr. Who (there is no other), Bill & Ben, In The Night Garden... (I am a member of the Cult of Igglepiggle), anything spiffingly country-house like Jeeves & Wooster, Poirot, Agatha Christie in general, that sort of nonsense. Not forgetting Charlie Brooker's ScreenWipe (how could I?).. I'm sure I can think of loads more, but I need to lie down now. |
