Introduction I started playing adventure games when my parents brought home our first computer. First game I ever played was this game called Rise of the Dragon, and mostly I remember dying a lot from a mutation that someone had set loose on the city. I had the reasonable goal of growing up to be an adventurer. That lead to some wandering around and occasionally ending up in buddhist monastaries, but I still haven't figured out where one applies for it as a paying gig. So I've ended up being a strange jack of all trades surviving off academia. Naturally, I didn't want to study anything practical, so I designed my own major in undergrad that I called "Digital Narrative Studies"--basically, I studied art, design, literature, american studies, film, pop culture, and anything else connecting to computer games. I'm now starting in the fall as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Information and Communication Studies at the University of Baltimore.
