Introduction | I lived many years unaware of the reality of God; how He interacts with mankind through history, today and into eternity. Having my eyes opened to His redeeming work has given me a singular purpose in life; to share this incredible reality with anyone who is hungry to know more about God, His purpose for mankind, His means of redemption and our great hope for the future, and to help them find and grow in their purpose in Him as well. |
Interests | Understanding more about God and the world we live in through the eyes of scripture, and helping others understand through preaching, teaching and simple conversations. Growing my personal relationship with God, as well as my corporate relationship. |
Favorite movies | Quo Vadis (1951) is a recent discovery that I really enjoyed and appreciate. Hunger games has made me think more about the state of our culture. All movies with redemptive themes or biblical analogies that break down the untrue humanist world view and give light to the reality of human depravity and our need for a Savior. I also enjoy simple escape movies that allow me to turn off my brain and simply escape reality for a while without violating Phil 4:8. |
Favorite music | Music that helps bring people to an understanding of God's love and purpose for us. Music that helps people worship (whether personally or corporately) with their brain and their heart. The Getty's, several really great classical hymns, Steven Curtis Chapman, numerous contemporary artists, Sovereign Grace music. In church, I love songs that are easy to follow, packed with truth, and for some reason cause the saint to sing well and strong, proclaiming and appreciating truths of God. In privet, the music that connects the person emotionally to truths of God. I truly appreciate and at some level enjoy a Lecrae rap that connects someone's spirit and mind to God in a way that "my" style of music will not. |
Favorite books | Tozer's pursuit of God. Piper's Don't Waste Your Life and Faith in Future Grace, (plus others) Tripp's Forever, Platt's Radical, Mohler's Conviction to Lead, Clive Staple's Mere Christianity (plus more), Dever's 9 Marks, escaping with Peretti, Dekker (and Cussler I'm ashamed to admit publically). Grayling has given my great insight into the working and ways of the enemy in the post modern western world. |
