| Introduction | My name is Ashley, I'm 30 and I'm a lifelong movie fan. I can trace my passion for film back to when I was about 10 years old, and my mother took me to a local video shop, where she said I could rent anything I wanted. "Anything?" After a quick survey of the shop, I discovered a shelf against a wall about 10 feet wide and packed full of horror films. I don't remember what I rented that day but I've never looked back, and have been a Horror and B-movie fanatic ever since. The second most influential movie experience came when I was 18 and decided to check out a film called Donnie Darko I'd heard about. The film was mind-blowing and made me realise what could be accomplished in cinema with enough vision and ambition, and remains my favourite film to this day. From that point on, the standard was set pretty high and I never looked at mainstream fluff in the same way again. Nowadays I'm pretty open minded and will watch films of most genres that pique my interest but I still retain that affection for the cult, the poorly made or the convoluted. Let's talk about movies.
