IntroductionThere is an ancient Japanese tradition of folding one thousand paper cranes to ensure a thousand years prosperity. The cranes become a votive, concrete symbol and in the folding and making, by sheer numbers, transform themselves to the whole creating more that the sum of its parts. These hand made porcelain hearts are intended as small tokens of thanks, hope and love. I use them to note any circumstance that speaks of beauty, love, gratitude, compassion, honor, friendship. I have placed the hearts in the environment. Whenever possible or appropriate, I record the hearts through photography and written documentation. Ultimately it is my hope to compile 1000 images of these moments and in so doing, create a new version of the 1000 cranes – Senno kokoro a thousand heart good wishes. I invite you to join me in this objective and i ask that you share your experiences. Please do not feel obliged to do this – enjoy the hearts and if you want to extend the heart communication to the project - I’ll look forward to receiving your stories and images. I am documenting this project through this blog.
