Introduction I recall spending most of my pre-teen years wandering my family's farmland. During this time, Mrs. L - my 6th grade teacher and cross country coach - convinced me to try out for the team despite my obvious future as the NFL's next running back. I instead fell in love with the repetitive footfalls. Following my time in Foley, I attended the University of Wisconsin. It was there that I began to partially evolve...enabling myself to see glimpses of happiness as a result of pursuing a sort of personal anthropology, along with my adopted sport. My pastimes are not novel, nor are they trivial. They are my way of staying sane and genuinely happy and appreciative. This blog is an account of those. To me, the running scene accesses the best in me, it allows me to dream, it is democratic and it is fair. I once convinced myself that running alone propelled my search for meaning. I now recognize that meaning will come in the pursuit of finding authentic qualities within ourselves, both mental and physical, and a persistent state of growth is how to achieve this. My own purpose has been found in the desire and determination to both set lofty goals and struggle to reach them.

Why don't you ever wear a scarf? It doesn't need to be cold outside for your neck to feel naked.

I prefer sporting a beard.
