Introduction | Since I was a child I have loved reading and have maintained a journal off and on for more than 30 years. My book, "Teaching the Story: Fiction Writing in Grades 4-8" (Maupin House, 2007) reflects these twin passions of reading and writing. "If you want to write, read!" I am presently writing my first young adult novel, you can find out more under the "Half-Truths" tab. I co-publish the "Talking Story" newsletter with Joyce Hostetter and am a new team member for Write2Ignite. |
Interests | In addition to writing, teaching writing, and blogging, I love listening to books on CDs, biking or golfing with my husband Creighton, reading and playing with my grandchildren, planting flowers, and eating chocolate. Not necessarily in that order. |
Favorite Movies | West Side Story, Gone with the Wind. |
Favorite Music | Classical, bluegrass |
Favorite Books | Inkheart, Inkspell, Airborne, Al Capone Does My Shirts, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Moves Make the Man, Hiroshima, The Bomb, Grapes of Wrath, The River Between Us, Mudbound |
I grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ and moved to Charlotte, NC in 1986 when I married my husband, Creighton. I became step-mother to Leslie and Lindsey and then we had three more daughters: Lisa, Lori, & Lydia. I now have 4 granddaughters and two grandsons-who I love reading books to! My husband and I recently returned to Charlotte after living in Greenville, NC and Greenville, SC.
