Introduction Listening to beautiful music on a fall evening when a fresh cool breeze filters through the open windows; snuggling a newborn baby on my shoulder, kissing a two-year old in that special spot where their neck and shoulder meets, being in the country smelling barns and hay and cows and horses and manure, all mixed up together (ABSOLUTELY the BEST smell in the world!); the sound and smell and feel of a spring rain; the smell and taste of dark, strong, freshly brewed coffee; fresh strawberries or cherries. These are a few of my favorite things . . . Being open and flexible to new ideas and experiences but treasuring the past, having personal convictions yet being tolerant and respectful of the same in others, spending time with family and friends, enjoying time alone, feeling peaceful and content when I lay down in bed at night. These are a few of my necessary things . . . That I was not able to figure out how to live out my life with the father of my children, that I am not more successful at eliminating negative thoughts and energies, and that I am not better at practicing the teachings of St. Francis. These are the regrets of my life . . .
Interests Writing, genealogy, gardening, reading.
Favorite Movies Some movies I have loved – Rocky (the first), Gladiator, Once Upon A Time in America (the unabridged DVD version) are three favorites; Robert DiNero and James Woods being two of my favorite actors. Also Pearl Harbor, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Love Story, and Chicago (singing and dancing were amazing, Bob Fosse was a Genius). Anyone see The Little Prince? We had to read it in French in French class, remember? Movie was with Richard Kiley (the pilot), and a beautiful curly-headed little boy. Gene Wilder was amazing as The Fox and Fosse as The Snake was perfection.
Favorite Music Favorite music/composers are Puccini (Turandot, Madame Butterfly), Wagner (especially Tristan and Isolde); the violin artistry of Ishtak Pearlman, Andre Rieu, (recently performed on public television); Chris Botti (going to his concert in April!); Roni Benise(*). The great music from the 40s, 50s, 60s! The Blues; Ray Charles; Benny Goodman, Arthur Prysok, Glenn Miller, Bobby Vinton, Sinatra, Vic Damone, the Mo-Town sound. http://benise.com/home.htm – THIS IS AWESOME, GO THERE! Never to be forgotten -- Vera Lynn singing "I'll Be Seeing You" and "White Cliffs of Dover" (I have the CD). When I hear these songs my heart and soul are filled with such bittersweet emotion it feels as though it will burst from my body; as though the hopes and love and fears of every WWII sweetheart and mother of every soldier fill my body.
Favorite Books Some great books I have read that quickly come to mind: Les Miserables, Crime and Punishment (Dostoevsky), Anna Karenina, A Bag of Marbles by Joseph Joffo; A Stone for Danny Fisher, 79 Park Avenue, The Carbetbaggers (Harold Robbins), Centennial, Exodus (Michner), Bonfire of the Vanities (Thomas Wolfe), Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, Advise and Consent, Leopold and Loeb, In Cold Blood. As a child, I loved the Anne of Green Gables series and later gave them to my daughters. Also, The Chestry Oak and A Tree for Peter by Kate Seredy were favorites I passed down to my children. Books/people that have influenced my beliefs: The Bible, Joseph Campbell, Dr. Wayne Dwyer, ( "Your Erroneous Zones, " "Wisdom of the Ages, " "The Power of Intention"), Andy Andrews (Seven Decisions That Determine Personal Success), Depak Chopra ("How to Know God"), The Prayer of St. Francis of Assissi, "Lord Make Me An Instrument of Thy Peace." (Remember? We sang it at our Convocation Service.)
