| Introduction | My practice is concerned with societal trends, mass culture, communication and the construction of meaning. I collect and appropriate from a wide range of sources including television, books, newspapers, magazines and the Internet in an often crude attempt to define or celebrate the sociological status quo. My multi-disciplinary and participatory projects border on the absurd, referencing craft and hobbies, online culture, entertainment and the banal. In each case the medium is dictated by the subject, employing decontextualisation and the appropriation of disparately sourced material to produce a dialogue or tension in the work. |
