| Introduction | I was born in industrial Hudson County NJ to a Republican mother and a conservative Democratic father who feared his mother would disapprove if she found out he voted Republican. Raised a Catholic, I stumbled thru 16 years of Catholic ed: nuns, brothers, Jesuits. Supported Nixon in 1960 because I thought Patricia Nixon was hot. Read Conscience of a Conservative and supported Goldwater in 1964. Abandoned Republicans in 1966 and became campus rep for Eugene McCarthy campaign in North Hudson County in 1968. Stayed up the night before my final college exam listening to and watching the hours following the assassination of Bobby Kennedy. Got a C- in the next day's final. Moved to Oregon in 1974. I am embarrassed by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Rove, etc. I am frustrated with Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein, Kerry, Clinton, Obama, etc. I am closest in philosophy to Kucinich, but don't support him. I'm on the verge on throwing in with Richardson. I'm working on a book about my experiences in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India lo these many years ago. |
