About me

Introduction	I am a mother, grandmother, and wife; a writer and lifelong learner; a cyclist when my health allows; and a lover of art, music, and nature. I’ve lived most of my life in North Carolina, not far from the Blue Ridge Mountains — my lifelong playground... Over the decades I’ve worn many hats: horseback rider, dietary aide, nurse aide, hitchhiker (over 5,000 miles), home/eclectic/unschooling mom, homemaker, gardener, secretary, sales rep, caregiver for my late quadriplegic father, preschool music teacher, science center program director, art studio manager, pet-sitting business owner, and navigator through my own major health challenges... I have backpacked and biked solo, been published in several anthologies and magazines, survived an abusive mental health therapist, and filled decades of handwritten journals. From 1977–2005 I was a devoted follower of The Way International, serving many of those years as a lay leader and Bible teacher... Today, my full-time job is self-care as I navigate a rare neurological disease and long-term disability resulting from a medical injury. I focus on what I can still do, staying grounded with Earth and grateful for the joys that remain...
