About me

Introduction Franklin was once “The West Farms Parish” of Norwich, Connecticut and some there refer to it still as one of the “territories.” Our little corner of it, Bailey Farm, was part of a land deal struck in 1665 by trapper John Ayer and Chief Uncas himself. Tradition says John had some difficulties with Indians in Massachusetts and fled to the wilderness of Connecticut. He found peace in the little house he built by the ledges of Ayer’s Gap. Safely rooted here, we too enjoy the view from the territories.
