| Introduction | New Kitchen Primer just passed its one-year anniversary. What started out as a mission to get my daughter, Sylvia, into the kitchen has evolved a bit. This is what I’ve learned over the past year. Evangelism doesn’t work! Infectious enthusiasm does. 150 entries later, I have a small but friendly following that surprises me when a comment is left or a suggestion is made. Throwing something out into the world is fun and getting something thrown back—even more so. And true confession time: Sylvia is not a fan! Her first kitchen (which inspired this blog) was a disaster! I’m learning too. Getting started in the kitchen isn’t as easy as I thought. So here’s a seasonal menu change. I still intend to set out bite-sized portions of food-geekyness, and I hope that you will continue to enjoy what’s served up. After digesting a huge portion of humble pie, I’m hoping to have even more fun and be a little freer with additions. Besides, Sylvia’s not looking, and being a paragon of virtue feels like the moral equivalent of my mother’s pot roast (don’t ask… edible but not terribly exciting). In other words, maybe just a pinch of ‘mom’ to accompany a large serving of ‘food nut’. |
