| Introduction | This blog was created to chronicle my western Kansas garden. I want to look back to the same time in previous years and see how things have grown and changed. I want to remember the trials, tribulations, and victories. I want to cherish the blessings. Western Kansas has a harsh climate. The soil is good, at least in the northwest it is loamy and rich. But in a good year we receive very little rain, have lots of wind (lots), and have extreme temperatures. In early 2021 we experienced the coldest day on record, -34. And this summer, 2022, it has been up to 108 with many days over 105. We are also in a severe drought. Maybe something I write about will be useful to someone, so here it is in a blog. |
