| Introduction | I'm either shocked that we're actually living in Taiwan, or I'm not surprised at all, it just depends on what day it is. I'm still amazed that I lived in Seattle for eight years. I grew up in a dinky town in Nebraska. The people there might argue about the "dinky" term but my wife's from Tucson and she won't let me think I was from anything but a small town. But being from a small town in a conservative place like the midwest, I'm regularly amazed that I moved to Seattle, stayed there for eight years, and then decided that wasn't interesting enough and I should go to the other side of the world. Granted, that's not what I think of automatically; I tend to read, write, and think, tho' I really miss playing Ultimate Frizbee with a bunch of guys I met at Microsoft. I worked for MS off and on as a contractor for years, and I think that's the best thing to come out of those years. The experience as a copy editor and technical editor was good, but the memories of playing Frizbee for years are going to make me smile for the rest of my life. |
