| Introduction | I grew up in Chattanooga, with a great family and friends I still see. I went to college at a Quaker school in Indiana. Earlham was a very formative experience for me. It shaped my worldview profoundly and taught me invaluable lessons about social justice, the material world, nature, humor, friendship, and myself. From there, I moved to Vancouver where I met Thomas, the love of my life. Thomas and I moved to Cincinnati, where we went to Reds games, went camping and hiking all the time, and I became a nurse-midwife. Finally, we moved back to Chattanooga to start our family. We married in 2002, and 2 years later our twin boys Tae and Ansel were born. I love being their mom more every day. Just as I worry that they are growing up too fast, I enjoy every year more. I have been lucky to work as a nurse-midwife since 2002, and I have learned from great midwives, doctors, and nurses. Most of all, I have learned from the women and families I serve, who all bring something new to me as I work with them. A new goal is to run a half-marathon in the fall (a friend talked me into doing it with her!!). I also love playing tennis, and I am sharpening my skills, so watch out! |
