Introduction You may notice I haven’t posted my weight. I’ve got guts, but not that many. I’m 58 years old, a native of Corvallis, Oregon, and a journalist in Seattle. My career has taken me from Portland, Oregon (where I was one of the first women on radio and television in the early 1970s), to New York City (where I anchored the news on the NPR affiliate, anchored for Bloomberg Radio, and produced television newscasts for Fox News Channel and CNN). I have also had a free-lance career, and have written for People, Entertainment Weekly, Backstage, Newsday, New York magazine, The Oregonian, and many other publications. I now write regularly for the Seattle Times, teach journalism and technical writing at Bellevue (Wash.) Community College, and write the news a couple of evenings a week at Seattle’s Fox affiliate, KCPQ (also known as Q-13). Writing about food is a nice break for me; last year I seemed to focus on serial killers, sexual predators, and female astronauts who go crazy.
