| Introduction | PROFILE: I am a fan of the bursting metropolises of Eurasia & I'm deeply fascinated by how they have transformed and are still transforming themselves into the shining urban centers of the Eurasian Century. Tokyo is already acknowledged as the most modern metropolis in the world (besides being the largest and wealthiest, with $1.9 trillion nominal GDP) and the rest of the pack are just too eager to follow. The Chinese giant metropolises will surely scramble themselves up to the top. Where will that leave the Southeast Asians, will they take things sitting down? The excitement has just begun. It's good to realize Russia is included into the mix; the complementation of the various nodes of Eurasia will ensure the Eurasian Century will be an improvement over the wars and bankruptcy of the exiting American Century. The picture in the title bar is the edge city of Makati, one of the three edge cities with same size and skyscraper density along the outer ring road in Metropolitan Manila (the other edge cities are Ortigas & Fort Bonifacio; Makati is the Post-WWII financial district). |
