IntroductionYou're reading the blog of a curmudgeon, an old, fat, misanthropic, unreconstructed 1960s radical Lefty who despises neocons, so-called libertarians and similar neo-fascists. An atheist who despises religiosity but respects religion. A sailor on this ship of fools who doesn't suffer other fools gladly at all. And, incidentally, a lover of irony.
InterestsBooks, movies, ideas, fountain pens, good food, good wine, good friends, good conversation, and my guilty pleasure: World of Warcraft
Favorite moviesRather than a single favorite movie, I can watch over and over again the films of Chaplain, Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, the Marx Brothers, W.C. Fields, Alfred Hitchcock, Josef von Sternberg, Fritz Lang, Howard Hawks, George Stevens, Jean Renoir, John Ford, Frank Capra, Orson Welles, John Houston, Billy Wilder, Michael Curtiz, Laurence Olivier, Ingmar Bergman, Frederico Fellini, Sam Peckinpah, Roman Polanski, Lina Wertmuller, Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Mazursky, Martin Scorsese, Alan Rudolph, and a number of others. If I had to name some individual movies, I'd say Capra's Lost Horizon, La Grand Illusion, La Strada and Afterglow.
Favorite musicMozart generally but Zauberflote in particular, most jazz through the 1950s, Porgy and Bess, all of Kurt Weill
Favorite booksOvid's Metamorphoses, The Canterbury Tales, all of Shakespeare, Tristram Shandy, Moby Dick, The Long Goodbye

You're in the grocery store with a broken cart. How will you ever be that hungry?

Apart from Terry Pratchett's books, I presume. Perhaps the multitude of various religious fundamentalists are right (extreme right!) about their scriptures being infallible and inerrant. If so, the earth must be flat because their big, imaginary friend in the sky said so.
