| Introduction | We are an Aussie couple pursuing our dreams of exploring the world under sail. To start this adventure we began sailing as crew with other cruisers in June 2011 around the top of Australia through Indonesia to Bali where we joined a ketch to Borneo and on to Malaysia. We raced in the Kings Cup Regatta in Thailand before flying to the Med to sail a high-tech Shipman 72 from Northern Italy to Malta, Tunisia, Sardinia, Mallorca and along the Spainish coast in winter. Next came Gibraltar to the UK via Portugal and the infamous Bay of Biscay. In 50 weeks we logged a total of 7,239 nautical miles or 13,406 kilometres. We also visited amazing places and shared equally amazing experiences, made lifelong friends, sailed with some absolutely wonderful owners and a couple of obnoxious ones. With Marc, a great friend we met crewing, we made the leap to cruising a Jeaneau 43DS, Alcheringa, ourselves and spent two years in the Med before returning to Australia. We are now living aboard preparing our new boat, the Whitby 42 ketch Our Dreamtime for extended cruising in the western Pacific and SE Asia. We’re here for a good time not a long time and don’t plan to waste any of it. |
