| Introduction | I am a 60 year-old paraplegic with a T10 complete injury. I became a para in the summer of 1988. In the 22 years I have been a wheelchair user I have worked a full-time job, been involved in a relationship, enjoyed various hobbies and activities, and generally lived a life not that different from anyone else (that includes being laid off from my job due to the recent economic downturn, too, unfortunately).
Over the years I have had a number of minor wounds on my butt, wounds I call "brush burns", where only the top layer of skin was affected. I've been successful at treating these with Douderm and similar treatments. But the wound I have now is much more serious and deep. I am currently in a Skilled Nursing Facility (aka nursing home), where I am receiving a number of different therapies and treatmenst for the wound. I will discuss these therapies and treatents in more detail in my blog postings. |
