Introduction	My first memory of being enchanted by a plant goes back to about age 5 or 6. We lived in a small back house and on the north side of the larger front house, I found my first love. It was a snowball bush. I don’t remember seeing snowball bushes anywhere else in all the years I lived in California, but I adored that snowball bush. And underneath it grew baby’s tears. What a darling groundcover! Calla lilies also bloomed in the same bed. That was the beginnings of my love affair with plants that has lasted many years. For 17 years, I worked on my garden in California, taking out more lawn, planting new and different plants, killing fewer and fewer of them. In 2004, I started the whole process over again here in North Carolina. I am inspired by gardens and by plants. My garden gives me a sense of groundedness (pardon the pun) and aliveness that I find nowhere else in my life. Thank you for reading my blog; I like sharing my garden.
