| Introduction | CLEEN Foundation is a non-governmental organisation that promotes public safety, security and accessible justice. Our priorities are pursued through empirical research, legislative advocacy, demonstration programmes and publications in partnership with government and civil society. Since its establishment in 1998 the CLEEN Foundation has pioneered civil society partnership with safety and justice institutions in the areas of improving their services and being accountable to the communities they serve, using research, innovation and technology. In the area of research, we pioneered the conduct of annual crime victimization surveys in Nigeria, which measures levels of crime and victimization in the country, the areas most affected by particular crimes and what could be done to reduce them so that scarce law enforcement resources can be better deployed to areas of most need. We have been conducting these surveys for the past six years. |
