How do you pronounce the 'g' in bologna?
Pronunciation of the 'g' is hard to explain. Let me try. The ‘g’ harks to a time when words sounded very different. In 1654, while visiting the town, you might ask "Is there a hotel in Bo-log-na?" The native Bolognese would without hesitation, direct you to lodgings, suggesting that very decent spaghetti is served there. You don't think spag bog is a modern term do you?
