Introduction | Born in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge Regime era, Jacob was an unlikely survivor of mass internal genocide. The Cambodian Holocaust, where in just 3 years, 3 million Cambodians died of starvation, disease, cruel labor, toture, and mass murder. Like many Cambodians, Jacob's family fled to the Thai Refugee camps, then found asylum in the U.S., and shares the many stories of how a people found triumph from terror. Jacob has been working the last 10 years as a Cambodian Interpreter and advocate for those still assimilating to a new and foreign way of life, especially those having the hardest time, sufferrers of PTSD, from witnessing the brutal killings of family and fellow countrymen. His work is focused with Cambodian Refugee Immigrants along with other South East Asian victims of the Vietman War era. Jacob now works for the Alameda County Social Services Agency, promoting self-sufficiency, health, nutrition, and medical care for families under the general poverty level. |
