| Introduction | Born Jack Sterling Fisher in Austin, Texas, and Maria de las Mercedes Garcia in Havana, Cuba, we met in the fall of 1969 at the University of Miami, in Florida, thanks to the Army ROTC program. After a brief courtship, we were married June 12, 1971, in Miami, after Jack finished his Airborne and Ranger training in the Army, and left as a couple for further training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and then on to a 3-year tour in Germany. Germany became the site of our re-birth as a couple and where our marriage took on an eternal nature after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After a 5-year stint in the Army, we returned to Texas to raise our family and begin a new career in education administration. When we became empty nesters, we retired from education and started a new career in real estate. Our newest phase in life is now caring for aged parents in Florida. |
