| Introduction | Saskatchewan has long taken pride in being the birthplace of Medicare, championed by CBC's Greatest Canadian Tommy Douglas. Fast forward 45 odd years and "pride" is not a feeling that will often come up when describing the current state of health care in Saskatchewan, and indeed most of Canada. Shortages of doctors, nurses and beds have brought surgical, diagnostic and even emergency room wait times to unprecedented highs. An Apple Per Day will examine the politics of health care in Saskatchewan and Canada, focusing on how politicians/government will address the rising cost and challenges of health care in this new day and age. |
