Introduction I was a Disc Jockey on the radio off and on for most of my life. I loved the radio business. Working in radio wasn't a job, it wasn't work, it was fun and you got paid to do it. Not very much, but you DID get paid. Sadly the radio business has changed for the worse. ALL THE RADIO STATIONS ARE ALL OWNED BY THE SAME COMPANY SO THE COMPETITION IS GONE. Go to any city in the U.S. and you'll find that the stations all sound the same as the city where you live. It's is now all about the bottom line. The owners cut costs to the bone and "to hell" with quality. It's so COMPUTERIZED that the individual personality and creativity of radio is all but gone. The Radio Disc Jockey as a personality in the community is becoming a thing of the past. On most stations the only "LIVE" person on the air is the morning man. The rest of the day is a voice filling in the breaks by computer (voice tracking they call it)or a feed from a satellite. Because of this radio listenership is sadly declining too. I'm writing this blog to tell the story of my expierences in radio. Radio as I remember it and love it. Here are some of my fondest memories.
