| Introduction | My name is Abdiladif and I am an alumni in a boarding school in Somaliland called Abaarso School of Science and Technology. I worked as an Admin and Finance Assistant in an organization called Horizon Institute for almost a year and half. Horizon Institute (HI) is a consultancy firm that helps communities transition from fragility and underdevelopment to resilience and stability. I am a student at the African Leadership University (ALU) in Mauritius. ALU is a world-class tertiary institution that is developing the next generation of African leaders. ALU is on a mission to empower Africa's greatest untapped resource, its youth, through education. |
| Interests | One of my interests include volunteering. Although I have been tutoring in other institutes but one of my major contributions is Helping Hargeisa School of Special Needs. I participated in schools of Special needs in Hargiesa, to register children that are mentally and physically handicapped. I aslo participated in recruiting and registering disabled children from schools around Hargeisa in Hargeisa’s special needs program. I tutored handicapped children and made sure they got a high quality education. I partook in calming mentally disabled kids with emotional swings. Primary Tutor: develop curriculum for primary school tutoring program, including English language and mathematics for grades 6 and 7. Introduce students to an English immersion environment and prepare them for Abaarso School’s entrance exam. Prepare students from the Abaarso village to fulfill their duty of developing their village by showing gratitude, and giving back to their community. Computer Instructor: Designed a computer science curriculum for the younger students at the school. Coached students in developing their word processing skills. Assisted the school’s computer teacher in running classes and other extracurricular activities. Orphanage Supervisor Assistant/Tutor Supervised tutors and made sure they complete their tasks on time. Taught and improved the Math and English standards of the most vulnerable children in Somaliland, children who came from horrible backgrounds. Prepared orphanage students for Abaarso School’s entrance exam. |
