Introduction I live in a suburb of Austin with my husband and three children. I'm a stay-at-home-mom and my husband/very best friend, Karlon, is a software engineer who began telecommuting about eight years ago. We spend practically every waking (and sleeping, for that matter) moment together unless one of us is running the kids to or from school or some other activity. It makes for an interesting lifestyle and I'm sure I'll be writing about it a lot here. Our three kids, Brandon (10), Ashley (8) and Jonathan (7) never cease to amaze me. We also have a Golden Retriever named Stetson who grew to be a shocking 98lbs. and has a heart of gold. As of December 2010, we are also proud owners of a very impressive little box turtle named Steve.
Interests I have some strange interests:, poking around on shutterbug looking at pictures of abandoned places (I'd go to these places for real if I could), Disneyana, Children's literature, dreaming about interior design and ordering the supplies for whatever project and then never getting around to doing it, shopping - but if it's only bargain-hunting, video games - but only those involving Mario and his friends, music. my favorite is still Rich Mullins even after all these years, also classical music. I still consider myself a flutist even though I rarely practice any more, stereograms are another favorite idle passtime of mine. it seems a never-ending supply can be found online these days and now there are even animated ones that mke you feel like you're inside a cartoon.
Favorite Movies Disney animated movies: especially The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - Sleeping Beauty - Beauty and the Beast - Oliver & Company - Brother Bear (and Lilo and Stitch gets honorable mention), All the Star Trek movies, Steel Magnolias, Charlotte's Web (the old one)
Favorite Music Nearly anything Rich Mullins ever wrote and/or sang, I've followed Margaret Becker's music and career for a long time, Chris Rice has also come up with some exceptional stuff recently.
Favorite Books The Anne of Green Gables Series, Marley and Me (the only book I ever read that when I finished I wanted to turn it over and start again from the beginning), Love the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary, Charlotte's Web (book is even better than the movie), anything by Thomas Sowell (he's such a good writer. . . his stuff is interesting to read even if you're not interested in what he's writing about).
