| Favorite books | Books Read This Summer 1) Stephen White's "Kill Me" - 497 pages. A guy takes out "death insurance" on himself. 4 stars. 2) Patricia Cornwell's "At Risk" 289 pages. Not part of the Kay Scarpetta series. This one deals with a detective (for political reasons) is digging up past unsolved murders to make our country less "at risk" of having murderers walking the streets. 3 stars. 3) Lois Lowry's "The Giver" 179 pages. Utopian/Dystopia novel. I won't spoil the discussion with my take on the book. 5 stars. 4) Lois Lowry's "Gathering Blue". Companion novel to "The Giver." 4 stars. 5) Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451." Awesome! 5 stars. 6) Ayn Rand's "Anthem." What an interesting woman. 5 stars. 7)Thomas Friedman's "The World is Flat." Thought provoking. If you're interested in the effects of technology on your future, this is a must read. 4 stars. |
