| Introduction | What brings me to this place? I am a mother, a sister, an English teacher, and I have been blessed to have been loved by my soulmate and best friend. However, my most recent title is widow...a word I will never get used to and one that pains me to even write, much less see staring back at me. One month ago, I lost the love of my life, Tom, to AML, an aggressive leukemia of the blood and bone marrow. He fought bravely for 15 months, enduring two bone marrow transplants and suffered through every experimental treatment available for the hope and opportunity of even just one more day with our beautiful two-year-old son, Jack. So our journey begins again...one day at a time, with a huge piece of our hearts missing. |
