| Introduction | Mall-terations is a temporary installation located on the Allen Street pedestrian malls between Houston and Delancey Streets. Created by Carolina Cisneros, Marcelo Ertorteguy, Mateo Pintó and Sara Valente in collaboration with Hester Street Collaborative and supported by the New York City Department of Transportation’s Urban Art Program. This project celebrates the history of immigration on the Lower East Side and the ongoing revitalization and transformation of the Allen Street Corridor into a public park for the neighborhood. Mall-terations was built with the help of volunteers from the neighborhood throughout the summer of 2010 and it will be on display until the summer of 2011. |
