| Favorite music | With Classical music my absolute favorites include Sibelius' fifth, Beethoven's ninth, Schubert's Winterreise song cycle, many art songs written by Faure (as well as his Requiem), the Haydn Nelson Mass, and John Cage's opera Nixon in China. Although there is so much amazing music out there for people to discover! For popular I am a huge Radiohead fan, am rediscovering the Beatles, love early-90's scene of Nirvana, the Pixies, R.E.M. (up to a point), NIN, and the Smashing Pumpkins. I also like some jazz and am partial to saxophone greats John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, and Sonny Rollins. |
| Favorite books | The Catcher in the Rye has changed my life. Otherwise I like Winterreise: A Winter's Journey by my ND professor Susan Youens, The Winds of War, The Brothers Dostoevsky, and Twelfth Night is my favorite Shakespearean work. |
