| Introduction | I began researching my husband's family in 1983, beginning with his father's side. Later I started on his mother's side. Naturally, I eventually began to work on my own family. That's a bit complicated, though. I am adopted and I first looked into the families of the parents who raised me. Later, since I am fortunate enough to know my birth mother, I also added her family to my growing list of names to research. I'm now in a wheelchair and depend exclusively on the internet to do my research. In some respects it's a wonderful help, opening up a whole new world of information. In other respects, I miss having and being able to go to various libraries to view microfilm and microfiche or search the stacks for books that might hold that one nugget of information that will lead to breaking down a "brick wall." |
