Location | Murrieta, CA, United States |
Introduction | Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, I came to Southern California back in 1983 to attend college. Eventually got my degree in English and then ended up working as an ops manager at a brokerage firm (go figure). In 2002, my career took another weird segue and I became an administrator for an architect/developer. Been there ever since. In 2006, Gil, our pooch & I moved from a small townhouse in LA County to a rural 5-acre property in Murrieta, California. We both still work full-time, but love coming home every day from the discombobulating pace of LA to some fresh country air. Anyhoo, makes that daily 3+ hour round-trip commute worth the while. Outside of family, friends and work, I am preoccupied with cooking, gardening (especially with California natives), birding and botanizing. |
Interests | Birding, field botany, native plant gardening, photography, cooking |
Favorite Movies | Pretty much every film version of Pride & Prejudice. I'm particularly fond of the 1940 adaption with Greer Garson & Laurence Olivier (which the Jane Austen purists generally hate). |
Favorite Music | Sarah Vaughan, Vanessa Rubin, Billie Holiday, Shakatak, Level 42, The Wolfgang Press, ABBA, Norman Brown, Incognito, Sergio Mendes, Fattburger, Antonio Carlos Jobim, anything Giacomo Puccini (cause I'm a sap) |
Favorite Books | Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen), Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte), The Lone Ranger & Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (Sherman Alexie), My Cousin My Gastroenterologist (Mark Leyner), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams), Picture Bride (Cathy Song), Farewell to Manzanar (Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston & James D. Houston), The Kitchen God's Wife (Amy Tan), The Lisbon Traviata (Terence McNally), The Jepson Manual: Higher Plants of California, California Native Plants for the Garden (Bornstein, Fross, O'Brien) |
To water or not to water, that is the question...
