| Introduction | Hello, I decided to start my blog for use as a gardening journal and so I could keep track of the folks I'm learning from. I'm also a non-traditional student in my senior year at FGCU going for bachelors degrees in English and History (Florida/Caribbean concentration). So I firmly believe in documenting stuff like this, because I certainly get a kick out of reading gardening or frontier journals from the 1800s. So maybe one day someone in the 2200s will read mine :) I'm a new gardener to Southwest Florida. I had some experience growing up in the Northeast, but it's been many years since and Florida gardening is WAY different. I'm determined to grow some of my own food because I have untold numbers of food allergies and they all seem to revolve around preservatives and foods with known high pesticide usage. I've been shopping at farmers markets for over a year, but still don't know exactly what's in their produce, so the best control is to try to grow my own. Here's hoping I can do it! Now I'm off to worry over my little piece of garden.. And they say gardening is a stress reliever, hah! |
