Introduction	I do not place myself in any political camp, but I am a very opinionated individual, nonetheless. I grew up listening to my father and his father discuss politics day in, day out. Hearing all their views and learning a bit (and I mean a bit) from general education courses on history and politics, I have developed into a person who's views are quite varied, yet solid. The first vote I submitted as an 18 year old citizen of the United States was towards the Gubernatorial election in 2010. Some claim it is the personal responsibility of every American citizen to vote. Although I do believe I play my part in this society I do not believe it made a difference. I am taking this class because it is a requirement. In the long run I will more than likely be better off having taken this class than not. I hope I will become more familiar with how the State of Texas functions and how it is supposed to be structured. I hope to be better able to comprehend conversations about current events in Texas. Most of all, I hope to be able to carry on a discussion with my father about our economic situation in this country and make sense out of the insights and opinions he throws at me.
