IntroductionI’m a professor, facilitator, and strategist who thrives on helping individuals and organizations think critically, collaborate effectively, and communicate purposefully. My work blends academic rigor, practical design, and cross-cultural insight, with a focus on building tools and systems that empower people to achieve more together than they could alone. I believe collaboration is not just a skill but a competitive advantage in today’s world, and I enjoy developing narratives, frameworks, and experiments that push people beyond surface-level teamwork into genuine, creative, and resilient collaboration.
InterestsI’m deeply interested in collaboration, critical thinking, and organizational change—especially how people and systems can work together on big, ambitious goals like the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), diversity, equity, and inclusion, and science communication. I like developing frameworks, workshops, and intranet/website architectures that help small organizations, labs, and coalitions achieve transformational change. Other strong interests: Education & skill development – designing learning systems, workshops, and tools for critical thinking. AI & socio-technical systems – exploring how GPT and other AI tools can support collaboration, learning, and leadership. Cross-cultural perspectives – especially Japanese vs. Western approaches to communication, leadership, and collaboration. Markets & strategy – from swing trading setups to analyzing business models for startups.
Favorite movies12 Angry Men, Ikiru, Moneyball, Arrival — all exploring decision-making, purpose, and communication.
Favorite booksThe Fifth Discipline (Peter Senge), The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (Thomas Kuhn), Thinking, Fast and Slow (Daniel Kahneman), The Righteous Mind (Jonathan Haidt).
