| Introduction | In Saskatoon during the early 1960s I was a middle-distance runner. My best distance was the 880, and my favorite was cross-country. When I was 15 I ran second in an 880 in my best time, 2:02.9. I graduated from Walter Murray Collegiate Institute, then from the University of Oregon in Eugene, and completed graduate studies at York University in Toronto. During graduate school I supported myself by working as a research assistant on business psychology. Eventually I became an analyst in the Canadian federal public service, mostly working in research on the justice system (crime rate, etc.). Since retiring, I’ve been writing, as well as reinvigorating my long-term interest in track by reading and volunteering in local events such as the marathon and 10K. |
