| Introduction | I am an opal miner at Koroit Opal Field situated NW of Cunnamulla in south-west Queensland, Australia.I have been mining for opal since 2005 but have lived in the outback for some time - my wife, Lyn, and I owned and operated a 7 day a week business in outback NSW for twenty years before moving to Koroit.We live simply but comfortably on our mine - we have to cart our water from a bore some distance away and produce our own electricity with solar power and generator.Our nearest neighbours are a couple of kms away and the nearest shops 80 kms and for half the year we are here on the field on our own. I love the bush -the colours, the solitude, the people and the challenges of living in the outback.
