| Introduction | David is a retired British ex-pat living in Vienna. He came to Vienna in 1976 to work as a programmer/analyst for the IAEA on a one-year contract which specified clearly 'no expectation of renewal'. After 26 years worth of renewals and some sideways promotions he ended up in charge of computer training for the IAEA. When he took early retirement in 2002, he returned to England but although, believe it or not, he liked living in Barnsley, within 5 months he decided that his heart really lay with Vienna and he moved back. David is an adjunct Professor at Webster University in Vienna teaching classes that essentially revolve around Microsoft Word and Excel. He does a certain amount of freelance work, has started photography as a hobby and has posted a photo per day to his photoblog since March 2006. He is a very happy man. He has two adult children who he adores, a loving brother and sister-in-law, a large number of true friends, and an ex-wife with whom he has managed to remain friends. He has a number of rather obsessional hobbies, interests and collections and tries wherever possible to computerise them. He also has cancer but is working on that. |
