| Introduction | Armadillo Advertising agency owner and creative director, I began my advertising career at age 12 at KJEO Channel 47 in Fresno, California. In 1972 I served as a Page in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. After attending Reed College, Portland, Oregon, I returned to Fresno to continue working in the advertising industry at radio stations, TV stations and advertising agencies. I opened Armadillo Advertising in Old Town Clovis in 1994 and it has grown to a regional agency, providing multiple-media advertising and marketing services for a wide range of clients. In 1997, the Fresno Advertising Federation presented me with a rare honorary lifetime membership, and in 2001, I was inducted into the Central California Advertising and Marketing Hall of Fame. In 2001, I realized a lifelong dream when I met and shook hands with Bette Midler. In 2008, I was part of the “Oprah” television program as one of Bette’s greatest fans. On July 4, 2008, Julian Scott Sallee and I were married in Cambria, California, one of only 18,000 gay couples allowed to enjoy equal rights in the state. |
