| Introduction | A walking contradiction am I. A veritable human conundrum. I am intraverted, but have excellent social skills; an ex-athlete that has no interest in sports; a musician that doesn’t listen to music. I am an overly religious person that has a marked distrust of overly religious people. My sense of humor is mildly self-deprecating, with a highly developed sense of the absurd. I am amused by irony, but regard sarcasm as anathema. I drive a Saab. Well, I did, at least, until my youngest spawn appropriated it. (“Those Saab drivers, they’re ‘qwuhky’, ” says my English friend.) I am a husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. I am a businessman, artist, pillar of support, soother of wounds, and occasionally, wordsmith. I am a friend to many, and an enemy to none. I have been accused of being an intellectual, but I find the specificity of that particular appellation incommodious. A keen love of life, I possess. On occasion, Oprah, I have watched. Speak like Yoda, I can. |
